Towards net zero emissions
RHG has set a bold target to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050, supported by near-term, science-based targets approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). The group is working towards a 46% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, compared to 2019 levels, as part of its alignment with the UNFCCC’s Race to Zero campaign. This commitment underscores the group’s leadership in combating climate change within the hospitality sector.
Energy efficiency and renewable energy transition
Over the last decade, RHG has reduced its average energy and water footprints by 30%, reflecting its commitment to resource efficiency. The group is making significant strides in renewable energy adoption, with 67 hotels currently operating on 100% renewable electricity. Through its renewable energy sourcing strategy, RHG is further advancing its sustainability goals across hotel operations.
Sustainable building practices
RHG ensures that all new and renovated properties adhere to globally recognized sustainable building certifications such as LEED, BREEAM, and EDGE. Additionally, the group has developed its “Build Planet” guidelines, which emphasize the use of sustainable materials and efficient resource management in construction and renovation projects, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable infrastructure.
Driving community engagement
Under the pillars of "Think People, Think Community, Think Planet," RHG focuses on workforce diversity, inclusion, and development. In 2023 alone, the group provided over 1.5 million hours of employee training to promote engagement and professional growth. RHG’s carbon-neutral meetings initiative has offset approximately 87,000 tons of emissions since 2019, showcasing its commitment to responsible tourism and sustainable travel.
Innovative practices in hospitality
RHG is pioneering sustainability innovations such as hydroponic farming at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dubai Deira Creek, reducing water usage by up to 95% and lowering food transportation emissions. With 970 electric vehicle charging stations across its properties, RHG also supports green mobility and sustainable transportation solutions.
